Quite often, bright schoolchildren achieve classroom grades that simply do not appear to reflect their mental power. These children complete their schoolwork, work hard in the classroom, but still get low test grades. Parents often misinterpret poor grades on exams as failure to study and prepare, but this frequently is not accurate. Usually, test anxiety is a major source of poor grades.

Later it developed into a massive money-spinner for TV celebrities such as Paul McKenna. Hypnotherapy made many people wealthy with self improvement hypnosis tapes and videos. Now, however, hypnosis is regarded as a powerful medical tool by the medical establishment!
